Studies have found that the use of an
antimicrobial face mask can help reduce the transmission of both Covid-19 and Influenza (the Flu).
Face masks with antimicrobial properties are typically made using either copper-infused fabrics or silver-based compounds. The VeraShield XP uses both.
Copper, with its natural antimicrobial
properties, is becoming an increasingly popular material for use in face masks, due to its ability to kill certain virus particles on contact. This includes Coronavirus, as research has demonstrated that copper can reduce the survival time of Covid-19 virions by 99.9%.This information is discussed in various studies on the antiviral properties of copper and its alloys.

Research has shown that
silver-infused materials may prevent infection from COVID-19 and influenza. Studies have demonstrated the potent antiviral effect of silver nanoparticles
on SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

According to a paper published by the NIH, entitled “Design of a self-powered triboelectric face mask,” the use of such a charge may serve the purpose of filtration and deactivation of SARS-CoV-2. See https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7502259/. Our VeraShield XP face mask incorporates a self-powered electrostatically charged system in our design to slow down or destroy the ability of the Covid-19 virus (in any variants) or influenza to infect anyone wearing our face mask.
Ok, that’s really a trick question. Allow the purchase price is higher than one-time-use masks, the VeraShield XP face mask can be worn day after day, and for weeks or months before it needs replacing (depending on use and the level of oxidation of the outer copper layer). Because of the antimicrobial outer and inner layers of the mask, the VeraShield XP face mask is self-cleaning, and can also be washed in the washing machine (under a gentle setting) as well. In all, your use of a VeraShield XP face mask will only cost between $1.00 to $2.00 a day over the life of the product.
Most face masks try to prevent infection by using a passive filtering system, which means that the thicker the filter the better it works. This is why N95 work well, but also why they are so uncomfortable to wear and so hard to breathe through. Our technology is active. The VeraShield XP face mask uses a design theory (based on established science) that seeks to damage the Covid-19 or influenza (flu) virions as they may pass through our copper layer, then be further impacted by the electrostatic charge that our mask generates, and then be hit again by our silver-infused layer before they may pass through to the wearer (if any indeed pass through). In our active system, the goal is to provide
excellent comfort and breathability while still providing protection on par or better than other non-medical grade face masks.
